A Texan for almost as long as I can remember, an academic, a glutton, a boozer, a former womanizer now happily married, a devoted father, and a man who does not suffer fools gladly.
I’m such an asshole, I have no idea why I didn’t wind up a conservative.
Politically, I’m a Democrat, a liberal, a meritocrat, a union man, and an agnostic fundamentalist. I pity the ignorant, have no patience for those who wish to remain ignorant, and see as a public nuisance those who prey on the ignorant at the general expense.
I look forward to the day when we have a rational basis for our policies. Until then, we need more and better Democrats.
